My placement at Tavey house was very beneficial and enjoyable. The staff were all lovely and were really welcoming, making me feel very comfortable. It has helped me to develop my ability to communicate with patients with dementia, understand the role of care assistants and understand how a care home is run. It has also widened my knowledge of different areas of care that I could be interested in working in as a qualified physiotherapist. The only area I felt a bit lost on at the beginning was during the afternoons as I was unsure what to do with the residents as I didn’t know their abilities or what they enjoyed, however this became clearer during the second week when I had spent more time with the residents. Overall, the placement was beneficial to my studies and was thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you again for this opportunity.
