Winter is here, and it's the festive season

Well… where did the time go? It feels like only last week we were all in the garden enjoying a BBQ, and suddenly the cold weather, dark nights, and extra layers have arrived. Winter is officially here, and the festive season has crept up on us again!

We’ve certainly kept ourselves busy. One of our highlights was a trip to Palmers Garden Centre, where we admired the wonderful Christmas trees and decorations (and maybe picked up a few gifts too). Naturally, we couldn’t leave without a visit to the café for a hot chocolate and a slice of cake… purely to keep warm, of course!

We were delighted to welcome the lovely ladies from Trinity Methodist Church, who came to sing Christmas carols for us. Their beautiful singing filled the home with festive cheer and had plenty of toes tapping and smiles all around.

Our Christmas celebrations really got going with two main events. First came Decorations Day, with families and friends joining us to get creative. Glitter appeared everywhere (including people who definitely didn’t start the day glittery!), and the highlight was seeing the Tavey Tree lights switched on – a magical moment. Thank you, Rob.

Then came the much-anticipated visit from Santa and his elf. We’re not sure who was more excited, our residents or the naughty elves who were spotted helping themselves to one too many cakes! Santa was a huge hit, spreading laughter, cheer, and gifts to everyone.

December has also been a month full of celebrations, as we marked lots of birthdays. Special mentions go to Sylvia, who celebrated her 90th birthday, Leon, who turned 88, and Rosa, who celebrated her 92nd – with plenty of cake to go around! And the celebrations aren’t over yet – we have another very special birthday coming up on Christmas Day, making the festive season even more magical.

What’s next?
We’re now counting down to more festive fun, including our staff Christmas celebration, followed by the big day itself. Christmas Day will be spent celebrating with family and friends, enjoying delicious food, good company, and possibly loosening a few belts by the end of the day!

Finally, we’d like to wish all of our friends, families, wonderful residents, and amazing staff a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for all the laughter, kindness, and joy you’ve shared with us this year.
