About Us
Tavey House is more than a building, it's the people
Where we began
Established in 1986, Tavey House is a mixed Residential Home for older people 55 years and over suffering with varying degrees of dementia (Registered category MD(E) (Mental Disorder), DE (E) (Dementia).
The founder Banu Lokat pursued her passion, after years of working as a social worker transforming her experience and expertise into the development of community care.
The core principles of the home are based on values of love, respect, tolerance, freedom of expression and self-worth.
The importance of ‘family’ is the key driving force. The understanding and connection to how integral the relationships and bonds to her own family dynamics transcend into the care and respect given to not only residents but staff alike. The home is managed by her son Kuresh Lokat, who holds a BA degree in Business Management and joined in 2011 and his wife Joanna Lokat, a qualified Physiotherapist who joined in 2020.
It is not only a privilege but a great honour and responsibility that we do not let down people who have entrusted us to care for those whom they love so deeply.
We are a home dedicated in the investment of people and continual development and growth of our staff, believing that this positive nurturing and empowerment ultimately leads to a happier, more joyful working environment that therefore results in optimum care.
